It can be difficult to know how to cut out the fat (and kilojoules!) in your favourite recipes. To make things easy, try replacing the following high fat ingredients with lower fat options.

Veg up your meals! It is easy to do this and adds nutrients and colour, improves taste, lowers the fat and even saves you money by making your meat go further. Here are some ideas to get you thinking about how to up the vegies in your meals:
-       Add a side salad with foods like lasagna, pies, pizza, burgers
-       Microwave frozen vegetables as a side (Takes 3-5 minutes)
-       Grate vegetables into mince dishes. E.g. carrot, onion, courgette
-       Add broccoli or cauliflower to pasta dishes and bakes
-       Make vegetables soups in winter
-       Use leftover vegetables in foods like omelet’s and quiches
-       Add a can of beans or lentils to mince dishes
